Foundation Seeks New Executive Director : Leadership Position Available for 2010-2011By , June 7, 2010The Turkmenistan Youth and Civic Values Foundation (the “Foundation”) seeks leaders for the position of Executive Director to begin as early as July 15, 2010. Download a PDF file of the job description here.“The Foundation, which has served Turkmen scholars and communities since 2006, is ready for a dynamic new leader who can continue and expand the excellent scholarships, mentoring opportunities, small project grants, critical thinking curricula, and conferences that, together, all of our amazing volunteers make possible,” said current Executive Director Kenyon Weaver. Candidates should have experience in and/or an appetite for fundraising from institutional, corporate, and individual donors in a difficult economic environment, a willingness to work and travel in Central Asia, excellent organizational skills and exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and a positive attitude that is open and welcoming to new volunteers and ideas. A graduate degree and Russian and/or Turkmen language skills are preferred. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit dedicated to developing and encouraging civic values, international experience, and community engagement in the peoples of Turkmenistan. The Foundation has grown in programming and revenues every year and has received two grants from the National Endowment for Democracy. “This is a high-impact position, for those with drive and creativity who want to show what they can do” said Katy Dieters, leader of the search committee. The Executive Director is the Board of Directors’ delegate, responsible for overseeing and managing the Foundation’s day-to-day activities. She or he is the only paid staff member of the Foundation and coordinates, along with a large volunteer base and far-reaching network of Turkmen, both programming and donor relations. The Foundation is offering an expected salary of $30,000 plus travel and expenses, and benefits including four weeks’ personal time, emergency health care and flex time/work from home.
