Sheet, or feel free to contact us.
How do I know my donation will go towards helping people in Turkmenistan?
The Turkmenistan Youth and Civic Values Foundation is entirely run by volunteers dedicated to working towards a better future for Turkmenistan. The vast majority of donations we receive are put right back into our programs, while a small amount is used for administrative supplies and fundraising efforts. In addition, the Foundation is extremely sensitive to ensuring that every donated dollar is stretched to its fullest. We recognize that a small amount can go a long way in Turkmenistan if carefully administered, and we aim for the highest level of financial efficiency and scrutiny possible.
Why focus on education and civic values? Education of tomorrow’s
leaders is the broadest avenue to change. Through scholarships to international
universities, grants for international language and academic tests and other
expenses, the Foundation will give a much-needed boost to ambitious, hardworking
Turkmen youth. The Foundation also seeks to provide local people with the tools
and skills they need to achieve goals in their communities by sponsoring local
projects that help the people of Turkmenistan find common cultural ground and
to understand the responsibilities that accompany citizenship in a free and
democratic state. Education and civic values are the backbone to what makes
many countries succeed in the world stage, and bolstering these fundamental
principles is the most sustainable way for Turkmenistan to grow.
Who sponsors the Foundation?
Currently, the projects of the Foundation are 100% driven by individual
donors. As we grow, we will explore institutional grants. If you are interested
in contributing to this important work, please visit our donations page.
Where does the Foundation work?
The Foundation’s projects are entirely focused in Turkmenistan, with
some assistance available for U.S. classrooms interested in learning more about
Turkmenistan and its people. We are currently the only private foundation focused
solely on Turkmenistan.
How do I apply for support from the Foundation?
Please review or program areas and our project focus to ensure that your project fits within our guidelines. Complete the application under the appropriate Program. We look forward to hearing about your project idea!
How do I contribute to the Foundation?
We appreciate your interest in our work! You can donate in two ways:
1. Online: visit our contributions page, and follow the online instructions.

How did the Foundation begin?
In 2005, six people returned from a two-year volunteer assignment in Turkmenistan
and realized that, from what they had learned and seen, their commitment
to that country could not end with their homecoming. After late night phone
conferences, countless emails and much thought, the group decided to establish
the Turkmenistan Youth and Civic Values Foundation, dedicated to bolstering
education and civic society. Programs in Education, Community
Development and Intercultural Exchange work to build the capacity of
Turkmen people to help themselves and to encourage the basis for a strong,
educated society. |
